Dr. Ronald Federici brings over 20 years of experience in diagnosing and treating children with significant emotional and neurodevelopmental needs. Dr. Federici currently serves as the Director of Neuropsychological and Family Therapy Associates, an organization that focuses on the assessment and treatment of extremely complex neuropsychological, developmental, and brain traumatic disorders in children worldwide. Dr. Federici and his associates strive to help children who have lived in impoverished, abusive and/or traumatic environments and have consequently developed disorders. His dedication has led Neuropsychological and Family Therapy Associates to become one of the global leaders in its field, and parents, as well as medical experts, seek Federici’s professional assessment from all over the world. Dr. Ronald Federici is also the President and Chief Executive Officer of Care For Children International, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive assessments, treatments, de-institutionalization, and outreach efforts for children in Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia. Teams of medical experts and volunteers are frequently requested to work with governments and other organizations to provide their expert consultation in hundreds of cases. Dr. Federici and his colleagues work with the ultimate goal of overhauling the child welfare institutional systems in countries such as Romania in order to improve the lives of millions of children. Dr. Ronald Federici completed his residency in Clinical Neuropsychology at the National Hospital for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation in Arlington, Virginia. Dr. Federici then carried out his fellowship in the same subject at both the National Hospital for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation and the Psychiatric Institute of Washington, D.C. Clinical Developmental Neuropsychologist Dr. Ronald S. Federici has been the Clinical Supervisor and Director of Neuropsychological and Family Therapy Associates in McLean, VA since 1986. Dr. Federici earned dual doctorates in Clinical Neuropsychology and Child Development form the University of Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 1985. He has spent the last 23 years cultivating a reputation as the country's foremost expert in the neuropsychological evaluation and treatment of children with multi-sensory neurodevelopmental impairments, especially those who have been adopted and suffer from behavioral problems, learning problems, deprivation, severe trauma, fetal alcohol syndrome, school failure, family discord, and/or violent behavior patterns. Dr. Ronald S. Federici is the author of the esteemed 1998 psychology text Help for the Hopeless Child: A Guide for Families (with Special Discussion for Assessment and Treatment of the Post-Institutionalized Child), which is now in its second edition. Dr. Federici earned his B.S. in Organic Chemistry and Clinical Psychology in 1980 at Purdue University and went on to earn his first Master’s degree in Biological/Physiological Psychology from the University of Chicago in 1981. In 1983, Dr. Federici earned a second Master’s degree in Neuropsychology from the University of Illinois School of Professional Psychology, and two years later, he also earned a dual Doctorate in Clinical Neuropsychology and Child Development from the University of Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Ronald Federici opened his practice Neuropsychological and Family Therapy Associates in McLean, Virginia in 1986. Today, in addition to serving as the practice’s Clinical Supervisor, Dr. Federici is also the acting Director. The world-renowned practice specializes in the treatment of internationally and domestically adopted children with severe trauma, fetal alcohol syndrome, deprivation, family discord, violent behavior, attachment disorders, behavior problems, and school problems. Because of his specialized understanding of adoption cases, Dr. Ronald Federici has become the country’s foremost expert in the genre.
